Before the cloud of Christ is seen
Before we see God’s Son
Before The Groom receives His queen
So much must still be done
The bride has lots of things to do
Some things we need to lose
God’s righteousness must each pursue
Beyond our childhood pews
For godliness we need to seek
Devout we each should be
To strengthen others who are weak
And help the blind to see
For deeper faith we need to search
Through testing on the street
Not warm to sit in some safe church
Who only Sundays meet
We must love God our Saviour first
Love neighbours friend and foe
For all good things we need to thirst
Beside our Groom to glow
Before we reach for higher ground
Before we’re seen as right
Endurance must be duly found
By God’s enquiring Light
The bride great patience should possess
Should gentleness acquire
Her love to God she must profess
Yet self have no desire
As bride, our Groom we must obey
As virgins chaste and pure
In preparation of the day
We greet our soul’s pursuer
