Before My Eyes, Light—vast Poem by Mohammad Younus

Before My Eyes, Light—vast

Before my eyes, light—vast,
shoreless, with no depth to reach.
Light, bright and immense, moving;
I was lost in its infinite wisdom.
Present, shadowless, veiled in brilliance,
God—no distant star, but Light-upon-light.

I called out: O my soul, my soul!
It is necessary to immerse in this ocean,
where no edge appears,
to walk within this light toward God,
to build a bridge spanning countless arches.

But who can? None!
O illusioned, ignorant dreamers!
Called forth—a bird of paradise,
Hazaar Dastaan, a thousand tales untold,
each feather an untamed verse of the divine.

I opened the ears of my heart to its song;
its thousand voices began to chant,
Hu, Hu, Hu!
From my forehead, light flowed—
a cascade of wisdom from the eternal sun,
revealing truths never spoken.

My heart and soul, now one,
bathed in the radiance of the infinite.
I saw the abyss where all dust returns—
so deep, no echo rises.

And the voice said:
Build the bridge of Hu.
To this voice, strange yet familiar,
I raised my eyes.
"What is your name? " I asked.
And it answered:
Light.
