Before We Find Light Let Us Find Darkness Poem by Mohammad Younus

Before We Find Light Let Us Find Darkness

Before we find light let us find darkness
We can make it through the darkness
And see the light -- The Morning of Peace!

If at first we feel groping in the dark
We will better rejoice in ecstasy
When we find the light.

Before we find our paradise
Let us first embrace our hell.

Our dark souls are liars
They make this world a hell.

All our minds trapped in cages
Of illusion and delusion.

Our souls locked in
Impenetrable jail of unawareness.

There is no light in this walled jail,
To right and to left, there are dark souls.

It is a matter of heart that sees or
The heart that perceives not.

Yet it is not a must for us to be
In dark dungeon for ever.

If we ever lived out of the Zulumat
How could we ever reach
The Spring of Water of life.

There has to be a steady travel
Through this, Zulumat

We are all living dead here,
until we rise from the dead
On taking the Water of life.

God would not want us to exist
In darkness, never.

He is the Gracious, the Dispenser of grace!
He leads us from darkness to light!

'Allah is the ally of those who believe.
He brings them out from darknesses
Into the light.

And those who disbelieve -

Their allies are Taghut.
They take them out of the light
Into darknesses.

Those are the companions of the Fire;
They will abide eternally therein.'¹
