Beggared Poem by Asma Khan

Beggared

He read my fortune in silence
nothing was there to prove his presence

But never did I believe in him
till his absence grew to the brim

I was imprisoned in my own pain
as if loving him, was time spent in vain

I sent him messages written on the wind
like every time, under my own shadow, I was skinned

Once, he said to me in his deep voice
I do love you, but I have no choice

I was destined to fall in love
but his courage frittered like a dove

I asked him what should I do?
silently, he whispered not to pursue

I got lost, dreams shattered and scattered
and he left me alone and baggared!
