Behind Attic Walls Poem by Kurt Philip Behm

Behind Attic Walls

Their footsteps returned
as a shroud fell around me
Hiding me from the heels
of their jackened boots
Direction was lost
escape but a memory
Shouting their curses
re-echoing the past
