What secrets are beyond the portal.
Do we know who we really are?
What dramas we each face.
The world will see what we want them to see.

Behind closed doors is the naked truth, no hiding behind our masks.
Are we two people or one in the same? the one in front and the one behind.

Complex humans on life's journey, the door our shield against exposure.
Here we stand vulnerable and scared, frail and weak our door stopping people from having a peek.

When you open your door feel the anticipation build, the hope that we face a bright sunny day, please don't let it be grey, dark, damp, stepping out into the unknown.
If only life would open and shut so easily, we pray to god to have the courage to face each new day.

Sometimes we may be screaming behind our doors wanting the world to come in and see us whole.
Our doors reflect life's journey, born a new and then torn and warped in time.

Are we defined by our door numbers? A cosmic stamp that predetermines our destiny.
Does your letterbox tell you information from a safe distance? because words on paper are easier to deal with than real life.

We see through the peep hole to see who comes a knocking as we vet who's friend or foe.
Hinges swing open to let the light of the world shine on our souls and in a flash of public opinion, easier to see through other people's doors but not our own reflections.

Our masks to the world what's awaiting beyond your closed doors? don't be frightened to have visitors and open up your world accepting we all have flaws.

Do we now know the secrets? Who are we? The dramas dealt with.
Does the world see who we really are?

Only you and god know will ever know the full truth, take comfort that we are all fellow travelers with our ups and downs on life's journey.
Having let the world in, we wave to it and close our doors until we have to open up and ready to meet again.
