Behind The Wedding Gown Poem by Osman Shato Mbindi

Behind The Wedding Gown

Rating: 5.0

Behind the wedding gown
Choked by the vicious tentacles of patriarchy
Blinded and blinkered by the snowy white gown
The uniform artistic bridal team dances
That, "May you kiss the bride moment, I do, I do"
It poisoned my tender sober mind
And drove me into this inanimate dungeon
Lashed by the hot dry desert winds
And brushed off what laid behind the gown
You should have told me mom!
About these unleashed vicious blows
The loud smack, thwack ofthunder claps
The caustic, vitriolic stings from disarranged syllables
Needle piercing like the sting of a deathstalker
Burning like the furious petrol flames
Leaving my soul broken and burnt into ashes
A caged bird with tied wings
Watching the rose wither
Watching the bullied morning breeze by the sun's rays
I watched the dry cracked earth
The barren frowning sky
Genuflecting, genuflecting and genuflecting!
But should i languish in servitude till i die?

Getting married can be blissful or it can be a big mistake. A great poem.
