It isn't just about giving birth to a baby
That defines a mother completely
A woman can simply walk away
For whatever reason there may be.

It is about the one who IS there - always
When a baby is sick night or day
Giving that child warmth and comfort
Their hearts will never ever stray.

It is the person who makes very sure
The child has the necessities of life
And we know how much that covers
Life puts us through anguish and strife.

This is the person who is called "Mom"
The person that they trust so well
For it is the one who is always there
In their smile and their eyes you can tell.

So if someone you know is raising a child
That someone could be a relative or a friend
Say to them, "Happy Mother's Day"
They play a major importance in this trend.

And Lord bless all of those birth mothers out there
Who, for whatever reason they were not able
To raise their children and they are hurting today
Maybe they gave them up to a family that is stable.
