I came a long way
through night and day
through dark and light
without cheating hope
fighting indifference
reaching out to find
to touch again
the long forgotten dream

I came a long way
to believe in me, in you
in the tomorrow of all
in the jay, in the sky
in the blue of the eye
in the slope of the green lawn
in the leaves, dots of gold
in the sound of ocean waves
in the kiss on the neck
in the bubbles of the soul

I came a long way
to believe in life again
