Beneath All My Lies Poem by taylor wiebe

Beneath All My Lies

Lying takes true talent
I can make you believe I like you
when really I despise you
I can make you believe I moved on
even though I’m stuck in the past,
I can make you smile
even if I cannot smile myself.
Lying for a reason
Lying to make things better
Lying to make you believe something
are all very different concepts
the only way you will truly know when I am lying
look into my eyes
and see the pain beneath my act.
Yet every day I plaster a smile on my face,
and make you believe everything is okay
when really, it is not.
Just remember
every lie
all my phony acts
Every time I tell you I’m okay
it is all for you,
for you will never know the truth
beneath all my lies.
