Beneath The Sleeves Of Love Poem by Slim Jay

Beneath The Sleeves Of Love

If love were a cloth, only a few could proudly don them and gallantly walk on the streets.
For the genuine could be marked and the fake ones crossed out.
But love is not always as it seems

Love is deeper than it looks
Thicker than it appears to be
Heavy yet light, smooth, soft yet rough and tough
Only a few can experience what true love is
And only those who give can receive
In love there's no need to expect
For true love is always returned

If we were all to love without looking back
And the right amounts of love given, is returned
If we could do well to give only half our hearts
There would be less to complain, no one to blame

If truth could be easily read on the lips of men
Peace, love and unity could easily be shared
Hope is a gift that we hold, it keeps us warm when cold

But man is treacherous...a fake and a liar
No one wants to be lied or betrayed
But the same people who hate it
Are the same people who promote it

How can we expect true love
If our hearts are wicked and false
How can we give our hearts to others
When their words do not match that which lies in their heart

But in life we ought to know
What goes around, comes around
If you give good....goodness you would receive
And if you give nothing...try not to expect to receive
Let's hope and trust in the good Lord
For He alone can heal our hearts
And when our time is right
Our better half would journey to us, in delight
