Betrayal Poem by Jamie Ty Beattie

Betrayal

Rating: 5.0

Black ink permeates clear water
Sharks, who once successfully hid from awareness,
Now hunt openly
I can no longer see the beauty and wonder of the reef
In the dark, I know not what surrounds me
What will remain once the ink clears?

I am netted near the shore
Trapped to watch the outcome
Or escape to dry land
But fish cannot live without the sea
Maybe I am not a fish at all...
