Betrayal Poem by Joan Hart

Betrayal

Rating: 4.0

A poison to the heart -
It often is quite fatal
A smiling face administers
The surprise betrayal

It slips in, cold as ice,
A chill down to your bones
A shock that makes you jump -
A wound you tend alone

Both friend and foe deliver
The bitter-tasting dose
But the betrayal of a friend
Is what hurts the most
