Better Tomorrows Poem by Joy Austen

Better Tomorrows

In the midst of the noisy surrounding
The outcry inside me magnanimously roar
I hear between the unspoken words
Of random thoughts and silent hurt

In the midst of a crowd embracing
All I feel is loneliness and confusion
How come many exist in this world
with no one who cares and understands

In the breeze of a cold wind humming
The heart froze still, hard and heavy
To carry it is beyond able
To share the load is unbearable

Putting this in words become an escape
An extension of allowing self to be a shattered whole
Making this deaf world hear
Cunnings of one who has listened by none

In the deepest soul of existence
Become the hope of those who are broken
Find the purpose of every pain
Turn every hurt into gain

Give without expectation of taking
Love without assumption of reciprocity
Smile without thinking about peoples' prejudices
And hope with the confidence of better tomorrows.
