Beware Poem by Anthony Fortunato

Beware

If you must know
its always been you
from the day I was ten
and you came and sit upon my lap
looking up with hope that I would save you
and for awhile I did
but soon it was on us
alive and aware
and the door to secret things
down deep broke
the place where my small life is kept
was crossed by you
and a burst of yellow
a flurry at us it spoke
a warning
to stay clear of love
a play with no end
and precious little things
like you.
