What lies beyond the horizon
Over there where I can’t see
I am fearful to move towards it
Thought I feel it beckoning me
The offer is of a whole new life
A world were I am reborn
An awareness of what I have missed
Do I want this, I am torn
For I know that once I go there
I will not wish to return
To this life that I am living
I have so much more to learn
A gentle but persuasive hand
Is urging me to go forth
And sample some of life’s wonders
I have never tried before
I would not consider going there
but for the total trust
That I have for the one who leads me
So grasp this chance I must
For I have lead a sheltered life
Boring is more like it
Uneventful, dull, passionless
I really can’t deny it
If I pass through this doorway
And experience the joy
Of embracing life wonders
Will I cope with it, will I enjoy
My life is like a jigsaw puzzle
With several pieces missing
Maybe this is one of them
Maybe I will make this my mission
To find that certain piece of me
That has never come forth before
I know its in there somewhere
Just waiting to explore
Life’s experiences that I have missed
There are so many now I see
And it becomes so very clear
Why this door it is before me
I extend my hand to that which awaits
So patient and so kind
A gently tug urges me on
To seek that which I hope to find
The horizon is no longer threatening
As I approach it with childlike wonder
Of the beauty and joy I’ve not known
Of that elusive lightening and thunder.
