Bhim Puja/Vasant Panchami Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Bhim Puja/Vasant Panchami

Bhim Puja

I can see them at work,
Making a large clay idol
Of Mahabharatan Bhim
With a mace
With a sturdy, bulging
And robust bust

Celebrated by the folks
Telling of the epical character
And the Mahabharatan story
And the battle of Kurukshetra
Bought between
The Kauravas and the Pandavas.

Vasant Panchami

Telling of the arrival,
The herald of spring
With Saraswati Puja,
The winter passing,
The new time to come
With the change in season,
Flowers to bloom
And to take over with
Wisps and whiffs
Ever pleasant to surprise
With vasant vahar,
Spring carnival
Of flora and fauna
