Bible In Poetry: Titus 2 Poem by Dr John Celes

Bible In Poetry: Titus 2

Rating: 3.3

Teach according to sound doctrine;
Teach older men to be sound in
Faith, love and immense endurance,
And be worthy of much respect,
And self-control and temperance.

Teach older women to revere,
In ways they live and not slander,
Or drink much wine but teach what’s good;
They ought to train younger women,
To love their husbands and children;
To be self-controlled and be pure;
To love and obey their husbands;
To be busy at home and kind,
So that, no one maligns God’s word.

Teach young men to be self-controlled;
Be good an example to them;
Show integrity, seriousness,
Sound speech that cannot be condemned,
That puts to shame ones who oppose,
So that, they can’t talk ill of us.

Teach slaves to obey their masters,
And try to please them in all things,
And not to argue or cheek back,
Nor steal but remain trustworthy,
So that, they exemplify God’s
Teachings in ways attractively.

God’s grace of Salvation has come,
And teaches men to live upright,
And shun ungodliness, passions
While we await the blessed hope-
The glorious coming of Jesus,
Who gave His life to redeem us,
From wickedness and purify
A people that He loves as own.

These are the things that you should teach;
Do not let anyone despise;
Be authoritative always!

Your versification is excellent - it is insightful to ones like me who are outside Christianity
