Bill The Fluter Poem by Francis Duggan

Bill The Fluter

Don't talk of hell to Bill the fluter he knows of Earthly Hell
And he doubts the life hereafter since none of it have come back to tell
He says the dead he knew are silent without a word to say
About the promised life hereafter all is silent where they lay.

Don't talk of hell to Bill the Fluter though the years have left him tame
He will tell you for his hard life he only has himself to blame
Twenty years ago his young wife of six months left him to a new low he did sink
Her reason for walking out on him was his love of demon drink.

His one true love left him forever since then her he has not seen
It is said she is re-married with a daughter of eigtheen
His fondness of the alcohol ruined his prime years of life
It surely cost him dearly the love of a young wife.

Don't talk of hell to Bill the fluter he has been to there and back
In his twenties and his thirties he was on the wrong life track
He has conquered his addiction and come back the hard way
And hell is here on Planet Earth of hell he has to say.
