One man once prayed the perfect prayer. I heard his prayer myself.
Outstanding, quite beyond compare. Yet not for wealth or health.
For such as these will come and go, depending on the Lord.
That wise man had the sense to know these barely brought reward.
For Solomon, whose wisdom grew, all vanities caused shame.
Though Solomon learned what to do beyond confessing blame.
Composing proverbs was his way to reach his fellow man.
Lord Jesus knew what He should pray because God had a plan.
And so I heard the perfect prayer one sunny day in June.
That preacher man made me aware that Christ is coming soon.
And all at once, my heartbeat raced as I wrote those words down.
To love His coming proves well-placed. Each saint will wear a crown!
A crown for me? From Jesus Christ? That took my breath away!
From Christ? Whom Pilate sacrificed? I knew not what to say.
And so my prayers began to change beyond such prophecies.
That God Himself would soon arrange I meet the Prince of Peace!
No matter if I live or die. Christ's Rapture Day draws near.
Though centuries have all flown by, now Israel makes things clear.
God's Temple changes everything, as prophecies explain.
Yet I still pray to meet the King when Christ must come again.
Beyond the signs and wonders shown. Beyond salvation's theme.
I yearn to talk to Christ alone and not just in some dream.
But man-to-man. Yes, friend-to-friend. Because of Calvary.
That is the prayer that I intend because Christ died for me!
