Birds Poem by Rachel Duxbury

Birds

Rating: 3.5

I woke up to two small birds chirping at my window
they tapped their beaks against the cool glass
their wings flapped with an excitement they could hardly contain

they knew it was today
and they were unsure if there was to be a tomorrow
recognizing the importance of the moment
i sat up in bed and smiled as i enjoyed their aerial dance

then, as suddenly as they had arrived
they flew away with the dawn
to greet the next pair of tired eyes
