Birds Fly For A Reason. Poem by Sierra Evans

Birds Fly For A Reason.

Your words are lying
your soul is bleeding.
your heart is crying
the birds are screaming.

The grass is calling
the trees are pleading.
The wind is breathing
and the road stays still.

The pavement is taunting,
playing tricks with your head.
Your window is open,
but you stay in bed.

Scream and scream and scream.
I dare you.

Says the outside.

No one hears,
no one cares.

But yet the air whispers gently through your skin,
telling you to come along.

Dare you ignore its' beckon?
I think not.

You jump you land you watch the tick-tock motion of your feet.

In and out,
appear,
disappear.

you can't see,
you can't feel.
you can't hear.

Soon, no more feet.
The ground is gone,
the world is left a silhouette of what used to be.

Flying through the stars,
into a place unknown.

Feeling the milky way scream into your lungs and climb its' way back out.
You're gone,
forever.

You've broken free of their attempts to ground you.
Birds can fly for a reason,
my love.

You're free.
You've flown away.
