Birthday Eve Poem by Frank Adie

Birthday Eve

I found my Eve
On my birthday eve
We met in a subway
Not far from where I stay.

I was bored at home and had to go for a walk
I had been home all day without someone with whom to talk
Suddenly I was enthralled by her feline gait
A feminine glide that caught my attention like a bait.

I walked up to her and we had a chat
We talked casually about this and that
When I told her it was my birthday eve
She gaped at me with disbelieve.

"Today is also my birthday eve" she said
Immediately I knew I had found myself a maid
As I write, we now bear the same surname
And since we met, our lives have not been the same.
