Birthday Wish Poem by Gautam Sen

Birthday Wish

Every time I remember the immense loss -
the gloss of my life that you took away from me;
A feeling of an irrevocable damage floats up.
Days go by; my life gaining age every day
and your forced separation too
causing a sore within without heal,
kept me roving on a lone shore of the life’s ocean.

Yet those days come that called for celebration,
but your not being with us
changed the calibration of my life altogether,
like an orchestra missing its tuning lacking harmony.
Remembrance instigates, impels me to reach back
those moments of sprinkled jubilation and delight.
I fight within, cry within too, but you’re lost forever,
leaving a captivating memory on earth,
my only sweet possession.

Today – a day I ought to pour my wishes
wherever it may have to reach,
but be there where you are.
Gather the blossoms of warm wishes -
the fragrance of my feelings on your Birthday.
Those who are gone, far away from home,
Know not where do they stay-
but I know my wishes with wings
would alight on your land of rest and peace.
Be your soul happy again with
the gleams of a heavenly bliss!
