Bitter End (Pet Loss) Poem by Katie Champeau

Bitter End (Pet Loss)

My pretty girl you are
and that's how it will stay
you have always been here for me,
and now I will do the same.

My protector and my friend,
for always and to the bitter end.
I see in your eyes,
the pain you are feeling.
With every tear drop,
I understand the meaning.

You have been a friend my companion
through every way and shape.
The condition you're in,
I feel nothing but hate.

Your eyes try to calm me
and still my tears,
but I also know that now,
'tis death that rears.

I lay next to you friend,
I promise not to leave your side,
I pet you gently,
but still I cry.

You cannot stand anymore,
all on your own.
I know all too well
you soon will be called home.

I will be here with you,
and help you gently die.
I will hold on to you,
until you're a star,
in the midnight sky.

Please remember,
when you're at those pearly gates,
you won't be alone
and I know you'll wait.

Nicky I love you,
like I loved Buddy
as a son.
Please wait for me sweetheart,
because home, soon I will come.

Wow, it was fantastic poem. I really felt the emotion. Great poem. What was your pet? What about Buddy?
