Black In America Poem by Courbin Keith

Black In America

Rating: 5.0

Being black can get you killed
Being black, you see?
Because being black in America is what you shouldn't be

Being black surely sucks
Being black ain't fun
'Cause when you're painted by prejudice, well justice can't be done

Hands up, Don't shoot
But they don't hear us sing
Cause in the eyes of U.S. Pigs, you're not a person
You're a thing

We beg and plead, we ask for help
It simply isn't fair
Cause when we ask for equality, it's like we're never there

Corruption and hate plague the nation of the free
I don't feel safe, we aren't safe
Help me

Officers swear in to protect and serve
Then use my brothers for target practice
And no one says a word

But we protest we march
We do what we can
In trying times, in broken times, we always lend a hand

Brave utterances set aside for honest reflection. An insightful piece of poetry, well conceived and elegantly brought forth with conviction. Thanks for sharing Courbin and do remain enriched.
