Blank Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Blank

Your words expressing sentiment
Are like an arrow straight through
Pain explodes in my chest
Pressure builds up
My blood runs thin
I’m nervous and shaky
Tears well up inside
But remain trapped
I have no release
Just a continuous fall
I’m drowning in your eyes
My body goes limp
You are my last thought
My eyes are blankly staring
You’d never guess
There are a million words
Swirling around behind them
That I want to say but I hold back
The pain I hold inside solidifies
It punctures my skin
Letting out blood and love
I lay in this pool and wonder
If you ever would’ve come back to me
