Blessed Breast Poem by Edouard BIZIMANA

Blessed Breast

Rating: 5.0

Though not like Mary the Virgin
But not far from being a holy mother
For you fed me from your breast
After Dad passed away
And mom far from me
Sandwiched between death and life.
Ola, you are blessed among all Israelis women
You fed me five times while I was counting my days
To Jews, Palestinians, Arabs, whites and Blacks,
You showed that humanism has no colour, no race
Ola Zak, you made history
By saving Yaman
From then on, your name is Amani
For Amani means peace
Your love binds us together
For I am your son,
And you, my second mother
My first mother, I wish to see alive
And gladly tell her how
A blessedJew saved a Palestinian boy
Trapped in an accident that took away my dad's life
And left you unconscious for months.
Come back Mom,
For us three to show to the world
That love and peace are possible
Between Jews and Palestinians,
The human connection is stronger and binding".
While sacking your blessed breast,
My heart found rest
As I felt your heart beat
While love and fear ferociously
Torn apart your mind,
As you silently feared extremists
Who would blame you for saving a Palestinian innocent.
Love prevailed and fear vanished
Now we are a family:
I am your son
You are my mother
Ayam, your Israeli son is my brother
My first mother is your sister
Your Husband is my second father:
We are a family,
We are a nation
Let love prevail over hatred
For you laid a foundation,
For Jews and Palestinians to build on.
We are one.
