The Wedding Ring (To Paul Weeks) Poem by Edouard BIZIMANA

The Wedding Ring (To Paul Weeks)

Rating: 4.5

I wish I could stay
This, I shouldn't say
For the choice is so hard to make
Because all comes back to the family
For which I have to fend:
On me Danica, Lincoln and Jack depend.
Responsibility compels me to fly
Very far away I decided to sail
And in the middle of nowhere I could land
Away from my family, away from my homeland.
I wish I could stay with you Danica
Living longer with Lincoln and Jack
Would help them find their way.
With a heart torn apart, will I depart
But, take our wedding ring, take my heart.
Take the ring my dear and it, secure
For Lincoln our son, give the ring,
For him to remember and to give life.
To Jack, secure the watch
For him to know that on him, I watch.
And if ever anything happens,
A place in your hearts, for me keep,
With a troubled heart and mind, I embark.
