Blood Poem by Stephanie Campos

Blood

Open your eyes. I said open them wide.
Look at the world; one you now despise.
You made it this way. You created this life.
You put yourself out there and wanted to strive.
In a world so corrupt, you thought you would make it.
You thought you'd succeed, but you were stripped naked
Of your rights; of your dreams, everything you believed.
All those you had faith in let you down without ease.
They beat you down hard without any remorse.
Your rage, so intense, everyday just got worse.
The pain in your heart; you didn't think it'd exceed.
Yet the torture continued until it made your skull bleed,
But you had one friend that was always there for you.
It never let you down and your love for it just grew.
Small, yet so powerful, you loved it's sharp edge;
The way it gave you chills as your finger scraped its head.
The rush through your body as it pierced through your skin
For a moment of release, thinking you'd never hurt again.
The red stain pouring out of your veins, finally free.
You're content and relaxed as you fall to your knees.
Blood is your weakness; Its velvet so smooth.
It puts you in that precious, calming mood.
You never want to leave. It's too good to let go.
You want to stay there forever; make it go by real slow.
Your heart's beating faster now, it's just about to end.
Your emotions are back. Now you're out for revenge.
