Blood-Coloured Liberty Poem by Abul Kayyum

Blood-Coloured Liberty

(Dedicated to the Language Martyrs,1952)
- -

You printed the land with blood
Changing the green into red
And the alphabet flashed coloured spark
Signaling liberty for the land

You printed the land with blood
Changing the people to soldiers
And the language became a weapon
To fight for liberty of the land

You printed the land with fire
Kindling revolt in our holy blood
And the blood-seed sowed by you
Produced love and peace for us

You printed the land with fire
Giving blood-red freedom for the land
And the alphabet with all its letters
Bathed in blood-shined beams of glory

You printed the land with blood
To make us hoist the grief as force
And chant in chorus of millions:
Long Live Language, Long Live Liberty.
