Blunt Mind Poem by Dexter Neve

Blunt Mind

I feel as though there's nothing left
Nothing left for me
The only thing that's left for me
Is the knife that did my scars

The blade was sharp
It made it enticing
So I tried it
It felt good
But then I was lonely

So I tried again and again
Every day for months
Until the blade was blunt
But yet it still enticed me

But now It hurt more
the pain unbearable
Blunt the blade was
that would explain it

And so I sharpened it
But yet still it hurt me
I tried and tried to get it right
But nothing I tried would work

The cuts were now healing
Scars was all that's left
And so I left it
A month, maybe two

And so I tried again
And this time it didn't hurt me
The blade was back to as it was before

But I questioned it
And so I realised
The blade was never blunt
It was me
My mind had turned against me
It was my mind that was blunt
Blunt to what I wanted
