Boardwalk Poem by Tamara Turner

Boardwalk

I'm trying to stay hopeful with an never fading smile.
As I count down the days I pray for god to push back the sun dial.
The flowers are blooming fresh air blows on my face.
I look around soaking in the moment so my memories wont erase..
The sun, having fun, living in the moment.
July comes around the smell of barbeque in the air.
Floaty clouds visible in the sky.
Kayakers in the water cruising on by.
People walking along the boardwalk with ice cream cones in their hands.
While some older people are sitting on the bench talking.
Their phones are put away so they can soak up the sun and enjoy this beautiful day.
There are butterflies fluttering in all sorts of colors.
Kids outside trying to catch lady bugs.
While someone's dog is trying to eat ice cream.
I look around in a blur like I'm in the middle of some kind of dream.
The sun is setting and I'm beginning to get tired.
Its time go but I still would like to stay awhile.
So, I get up from the bench and take one last look around.
Then I get into a taxi and say farewell to this beautiful town.
