Bodega Nights Poem by Moon Lee

Bodega Nights

in the heart of chaos,
we carelessly slipped ourselves out
into the morning light
welcomed by the overzealous after-hour crowd.
he said to me what i needed to hear, convinced
enough to take him by the hand
as he leads us towards the cab
waiting outside the corner store.
the driver turns off
the available sign, but we can still feel
the vacancy
and longing inside.
