Bonny Lad Poem by Ibrar Siddiqi

Bonny Lad

I made you wait for a long time.
When I finally made up my mind to come,
I put you both through pain and no sleep.

I have arrived, sweet Bonny Lad.
I can tell from your faces,
that you are both so glad.

I sleep and for no reason,
I open my eye.
Looking for you both,
my Mom and my Dad.
That's why I smile, your Bonny Lad.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to my wee nephew Danny born recently to my brother and his wife. He sleeps and occasion opens an eye and looks with a smile at them both as if to say I'm here let life commence.
