Breathing With You Poem by Valerie Colangelo

Breathing With You

And I never thought I could feel
This way. With you
It was like breathing -
When I noticed each breath in
And out, the rise and fall
Of my chest, I realized
How beautiful and strange it was
To love someone
So deeply, so wholly. I gazed into
Blue ice - I saw you
For all you are, for all
I wanted to you to be. I loved you
As we soared through
The starlight until the
Sun shone, as you held onto me
Until the world faded away.
I loved you. I loved you
More than I ever claimed. When
I notice each breath in
And out, my lungs
Collapse at the weight of your memory.
I never thought I could
Feel this way with you.

Like this poem. Told from the heart but yet in a comfortable, relaxed way. It is true that feeling we can get when gazing into the eyes of one we love so deeply. It can literally feel as if your breath could be taken away.
