Commonly the fight dies out …
Because there's nothing left to burn.
Shallow sorrys' sometimes follow
Without lessons ever learned.
Resentments are expected
Creating a brick of feelings repressed
A brick comes with avoided conflicts
Never resolved, discussed, or addressed.
The spark is always a ‘little thing'
Not worth fighting for correction
Returning to ignite the flame
Encouraging gradual regression
Unaddressed disappointments
The prefect couple is pretending
Without crisis there is no growth
keeping the peace invites the ending
Communication diminishing
To much has happened to recall
Disconnection propels the vicious cycle.
Loosing each other behind the wall.
Holding onto the good times
Bricked issues remain denied
Ups & downs but getting nowhere
An emotional rollercoaster ride
Resolution drifting further
Always arriving at the same fight
Bringing up bricks from the bottom
It's not about whose wrong or right
Larger & heavier yet still unseen
‘the little things' aren't ‘little' at all
Unnoticed right in front of them
Distracted by ignoring the wall
There's no forcing lost connections
Things aren't how they were before
Chemistry buried beneath the wall
Attraction impossible to restore
Another brick weighs on the couple
Each stacked up on top of the last…
Naive to the wall building between
Complied of issues from the past.
Instigating each others worst
Past plans result in confusion
an accelerating downward spiral
Waking up from the delusion
Egos traveling on separate paths
Hurt feelings hiding care
Together with distance growing
bonded by the wall that they share
Dwindling & dying out
fear of change delays separation
A loss of Invested emotions
closure comes with resignation
The true commitment of a union
Is to always work things out
Addressing all the little things
Never letting resentments mount.
Broken down & Damaged
There's nothing left to mend
The bricks of ignored little things
Built the wall that brought the end
