Bride Poem by gitaanjali naidu

Bride

She’s an apple of everyone’s eyes,
admired for her charming visage,
blushing cheeks and her rosy lips,
glowing skin and lovely mane.
A damsel inscribed by god himself,
with all his resplendence and radiance.

She is a princess,
embellished with gold and diamonds,
her hair sheered with flowers and accessories.
The fragrance of sandalwood, turmeric and rose,
emanates from her body.

She appears as an angel,
her eyes bearing an enchanting smile,
of thousand twinkling stars.
With a red bindi on her forehead,
she is attired in rich sequined saree.
Her neck decked with chokers and necklaces,
fingers adorned with rings, and waist held a girdle,
the anklets on her legs rang the bells of joy.

She is a darling daughter and sister,
now a better-half of her beloved.
She is carried away by her groom after nuptial,
in the palanquin and she sails with all hopes
and aspirations,
embracing the benevolent perception,
and culture endowed to her,
to start a new life together.
