British-Time Havelis, Architectural Mansions Of Calcutta Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

British-Time Havelis, Architectural Mansions Of Calcutta

The British-time havelis, dak bungalows,
Mansion-like
Or tin-shaded, tiled bungalows
Telling of an era gone by
Dating back to
When the fly ash was not,
When they used to apply in
Red baked small bricks
And lime clay,
Tall-tall, big-big buildings
With the boulder walls
Or boulder foundations
Just like the palaces,
Their planning and design
I just keep imagining, imagining.
