Broken Poem by Rebecca Cox

Broken

Eyes like water, words like claws,
Bore into my soul, and slash into my heart.
I lay in pain, burning for love that’s long been denied,
Searching for peace that’s long been in hide.
Fallen tears and forgiveness will grant me a fresh start,
But nothing will ever replace my broken heart…

She had my everything, she took my all
But of course, I was one to take the fall.
My heart was broken, but finally set free.
It flew away,
But within a day,
Back in her palm it rested.
Finding its healing harbor within her hands,
Better than the best of healing plans.

But now, as I lay, once more in pain,
My love again, she’ll never gain,
But I have my heart back,
Broken, bleeding and scarred,
Even my love sealed within is marred.
But, it is mine once more.
This time I shall cling
To my own heart
Hoping that one day, it will sing,
A song of love, not pain,
Nor blood, or hate.
Of Love, a song as beautiful as the pouring rain…
