You took in a broken boy,
Only ever part way there,
And always somewhere else.
You deserve sun-kissed caresses
And so much more.
The love you've shown me is unparalleled,
Healing the broken boy who became a broken man.
You prepared me,
But I was broken again.
Yet, you were there,
Bandages wrapped, head cradled, and thoughts soothed.
I'm sorry I wasn't more.
I wanted to be all you needed,
But all I ever did was impede.
