You tell me that you love me
and then I start to shake
your the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
and my heart begins to ache
With wise and knowing eyes
You hold out your hand
you know why I'm hesitant
and I know you understand
I want so bad to take it
as it lingers in the air
your hand looks so inviting
and I wonder if I dare
Your sandy blonde hair
and your heart warming smile
makes me want to forget my past
and make my life worthwhile
But before I take your hand
something makes me stop
a tear escapes my eye
and you let your hand drop
You wipe away my tears
and you tell me not to cry
and the sound of your voice
makes me want to die
You begin to realize
I'm not giving you your chance
you turn and walk away
with one more hopeful glance
I stand there distraught
hating myself more than ever
and i wonder to myself
if this fear will last forever
Your eyes begin to water
for you know in your heart
that if I'd taken your hand
we would never be apart
