Broken Promises Poem by Micron

Broken Promises

Rating: 5.0

You made promises of things you'd do
But these never once came true
It promised hope to which I did tightly hold
But they fast decayed, turned into mould
Your promises were poison masked by honey
Its sweetness making everything appear sunny
I fell for them over and over again
When will I learn oh when oh when?
I grasped at hope and was so, so blind
I was in a trance, your promises blocked my mind
Perhaps I should not dream of things to be
Of things that may never ever happen to me
For a time your promises did lift my heart
And when they failed they tore it apart
For the promises were a delusional dream
Events never intended and objects never seen
