Broken Smile Poem by Chloee Desormeau

Broken Smile

Sometimes I smile,
sometimes I cry
some say I’m in denial
but I’ve just got to try.

It’s not like I’m faking,
I hope you’re not mistaken
that although my heart is aching,
the life in me has not been taken.

I’m still who I used to be,
just a little bit triggered
There’s no need to say you miss me,
the girl I used to be has not yet faltered.

The challenges I face are to be kept hidden,
to be kept to myself and never to you
Giving them away is to be forbidden,
forever keeping them true.
