Broken Words Poem by Monica M Engeler

Broken Words

I sat on my sofa with my head down,
Listening to soft far away music,
Wondering, dreaming, of adventures to come.

I just wanted to run, run like the wind,
And wish that my adventures would wake me up.
My eyes remained closed in a fantasy.

I wish I knew why I always look for lost words
I see them floating around
I want to grab the words and break them up.

I heard the ocean waves swishing back and forth
It was as if the currents were controlling my thoughts
The broken words were telling me to run again.

So I ran again faster and faster.
I started to drift into a colorful rainbow
Everything just mezmerized me.

The rainbow drifted away like my dream
My words turned into colored letters
It was time to leave this dream.

My eyes were still closed in a bubble.
The bubble burst and the words broke apart
My eyes opened wide and the dream was over.

The soft music came to an end.
That dreamy story left me nowhere free.
Those broken words were gone.
