Brother Poem by Desiree Whitamore

Brother

When I found out about you.
I was afraid.
I didn't like what I didn't know.
I cried.
I was threatened by the nothing that you were.
I was stubborn.
How could I have known that I would love you so?
I was wrong.
The day you were born my heart did a flip.
I held you.
You were no longer a threat.
I was overwhelmed.
You've mended the fences that were so broken before you.
You helped me.
Now, the only thing thats keeping me from leaving, is the thing that I wanted most to be forgotten.
It's funny how life works out.
