Brothers And Sisters Poem by Maryam Iffath

Brothers And Sisters

Oh my brothers and sisters,
Where were you when I fell?
And I asked for your hand,
You never came,
No you never came.

Oh my brothers and sisters,
Where were you when I cried in hunger?
Whilst you slept peacefully on a full stomach,
Did I ever cross your mind?
Never, not once did you think of me.

Oh my brothers and sisters,
Where were you when I lost my home?
To a vicious wind,
Which blew in and took away all I have,
I looked for an angel,
But you never came,
No you never came.

Oh my brothers and sisters,
When you cross the riverside,
Why do you look at me with empty eyes?
Why do you not stop those stones which are thrown in jest?
Opening deep bloody wounds,
But what hurts the most,
Is that you don’t care if I’m here tomorrow or not.
