Buffer Zone Poem by Mason Maestro

Buffer Zone

Rating: 2.9

Watch the children play in the minefield
Capture the flag in the old gun tower
Contrast in prosperity- Communist bloc Democracy
Last year shrapnel took my daddy away
A suicidal uprise killed mother today
Contrast in poverty- Communist bloc hypocracy
Freedom dwindles when industry towers
When expansion threatens buffer zone flowers
Leaving no place for the children to play

Moments like this enlighten us from the past
In Chernobyl, there must have been light in the blast
