Building Walls Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Building Walls

Some try to fix their pride,
With gentle hands, or a soft tide.
To feel their worth, a steady bloom,
Chasing away the inner gloom.

But if the fight starts to burn,
And kindness takes a sudden turn,
Some choose a path that's dark and deep,
While others' lives they wound and weep.

If building up means tearing down,
And wearing envy's thorny crown,
Then love's a place for kinder seeds,
Not fields for selfish, bitter deeds.

We shape the world that fits our view,
What seems most true, for me, for you.
Our thoughts, our plans, our ego's call,
In every bond, we build our wall.
