Burial Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Burial

Burial

Among tours and journeys
-I went to places
-one of the attractions
-always was the graves
-in them I can read much
-the persons and the arts
-the cultures, places and of time

Being born in Iran
-my past comes at the top
-want to know who I was
-that tells me who I am
-what took me to here
-how and why?

Therefore it hurts me to
-see photos, article
-in news and papers
-of Tibet; in Iran
-wondering the vultures
-eating the dead corpses
-we did same
-to our passed and the dead

We believed as most did
-we see it everywhere
-best mother, Mother Earth

So we concerned, must do now
-Mother Earth is pure
-death was not
-dirtying Mother Earth
-a no, no and crime
-dead should not
-be the cause…

Antigone was Greek
-a sister-daughter of Oedipus
-she became example
-sacrifice and revenge
-Antigone's brother Polynices
-is killed by men of Creon
-he orders: "Do not bury this dead! "
-Greek's way and culture to insult
-disobeyed Antigone
-defied law, defended brother
-she buried the young man
-and she faced what happened…

Iran law and Greek's were varied
-not Iran and Tibet
-but we are brainwashed by Islam
-we have peed on our past
-we wonder why the dead
-are fed to the vultures…

It is shame…shame…shame…shame!
